iNaturalist finds!

Tyson did a huge amount of work to get together a list of finds and update the iNaturalist app.

On this page is  a spreadsheet with the list of species collected/observed during the 2024 festival. The list was generated from Tyson's voucher specimens, iNaturalist records, and display table labels as indicated in the spreadsheet.

He compiled all observations and removed duplicates, the result is 94 taxa, including 5 protozoans (Slime Moulds) and 1 lichen species. Of course many of these were not examined in detail and the names are ‘best guess’ at this point, with many only identified to genus with confidence.

Things he collected will eventually get sequenced and accessioned at the UBC biodiversity museum.

There were likely many more species observed and collected but there was insufficient time to properly document them. Next year we will make that more of a priority!
